Medication Assisted Weight Loss
Not everyone needs weight loss medications to reach and sustain their goals. Some are able to find success by making meaningful changes to their diet and exercise routines.
In other cases, however, those efforts alone are not sufficient. Some men and women need additional help to drop excess pounds and maintain a healthier weight.
There are a number of different prescription medications that can help. Most work to control hunger, some may slightly elevate your metabolic rate, and one decreases your absorption of dietary fat. ReVISION MedSpa does not recommend the use of the “fat blocker” Orlistat due to its side effect profile.
Our most commonly prescribed medications include Phentermine, Contrave®, Saxenda®, Plenity® and Qsymia®.
We also offer a variety of specialty compounded injectables, including Semaglutide/B6 and lipotropic weight loss shots (including various formulations. Some examples include:
M.I.C. Injections
M.I.C. stands for methionine, inositol, and choline. Methionine is the amino acid that promotes liver health, and also helps with healing. Inositol is a B12 compound that helps with fat loss, improves mental clarity, and helps improve cognitive function. Choline is an essential nutrient for our brains.
Vitamin B12 Injections
A combination of methionine, choline, and inositol are often mixed into a formula of vitamin B12 to provide a balanced, maximally effective lipotropic treatment. Vitamin B12 injections are mostly used to increase stamina levels.
Lipo10, Lipolean, or Lipo-B Injections
These shots are the same as M.I.C. injections, but with the addition of vitamins B1, B2, B3, and B6, as well as chromium and L-Carnitine. Lipo-B injections will provide you with a jolt of energy and improved mental clarity.
ReVISION MedSpa’s Custom Compounded Semaglutide with Vit B6 is our most highly used weight loss injectable due to the efficacy of weight loss balanced with a low side effect profile. Semaglutide alone has been demonstrated to have a tremendous weight loss success under the brand name Wegovy ®, but with the addition of Vit B6, B12 or L-carnitine, we have noted significantly less nausea & improved tolerability. As you cannot get this combination in a ready made formula, we work with reputable, FDA registered compounding pharmacies in the USA to make this product custom for our patients. Our patients typically lose 2-3 pounds per week, however, some patients may not see significant weight loss until their second month as the dose increases. Before treatment can be prescribed, a consultation & physical assessment must be performed and recent labs must be reviewed (including Thyroid panel, complete blood count and complete metabolic profile). If you do not have recent labs, we can order them for you to have drawn with a local lab.
We highly encourage our patients to participate in the InBody Body Composition Analysis plan to track your progress.
Inbody Body Composition Analysis
In-body body composition analysis is a method of assessing the body’s components, such as fat, muscle, and water, to provide a detailed understanding of an individual’s physical health. It uses bioelectrical impedance technology, where small electrical currents are passed through the body to measure resistance and reactance in different tissues. This analysis helps determine body fat percentage, muscle mass, bone density, visceral fat (fat surrounding internal organs), total body water and hydration levels. It’s often used in fitness, health, and medical settings to monitor progress, create personalized fitness plans, and track overall body health.
What do we love about it?
It offers:
1. Comprehensive Insight: It provides a detailed breakdown of body fat, muscle
mass, and water levels, offering more than just weight or BMI measurements.
2. Accuracy: The technology used in bioelectrical impedance is precise, giving us a
clear picture of what’s happening inside the body.
3. Tracking Progress: It allows us to monitor changes in muscle gain or fat loss,
making it easier to track fitness goals over time.
4. Personalized Feedback: The results help create tailored workout and nutrition
plans to fit individual body composition needs.
5. Motivation Boost: Seeing tangible data on body improvement can motivate you
to stay consistent with your fitness and wellness routines.
6. Quick & Non-invasive: The process is fast, safe, and non-invasive, making it easy
to incorporate into regular health check-ups.
It’s a powerful tool for anyone serious about understanding and improving their
physical health!
How does it work?
In-Body Body Composition Analysis works by using bioelectrical impedance analysis
(BIA) technology. Here’s how the process works step by step:
1. Electrical Current: When you step on the device (typically a scale-like platform with
hand and foot electrodes), a low-level, safe electrical current is sent through your body.
2. Impedance Measurement: The current travels at different speeds through various
tissues (like fat, muscle, and water) due to their different resistance (impedance) levels.
Muscle contains more water, so it conducts electricity faster, while fat resists the current
more.
3. Data Collection: The device measures how the current is slowed or impeded as it
passes through the body.
4. Computation of Body Composition: Based on these measurements and additional
variables such as height, weight, age, and gender, the device calculates your body
composition. It breaks down the results into key metrics such as:
• Body fat percentage
• Lean body mass (muscle)
• Visceral fat (fat around organs)
• Total body water
• Basal metabolic rate (BMR)
5. Result Display: The results are then displayed on the machine or provided in a printout,
giving you a full report of your body composition, allowing you to analyze muscle
distribution, fat mass, and hydration levels.
What should I expect?
When undergoing an In-Body Composition Analysis, here’s what you can expect:
1. Preparation:
• You may be asked to avoid eating, drinking, or exercising for a few hours before the test for more accurate results.
• You’ll need to remove shoes, socks, and any metal accessories to avoid interference with the electrical current.
2. The Test Process:
• Step on the device: You’ll stand barefoot on the platform, placing your feet on the
electrodes. Some devices also require you to hold hand electrodes.
• Remain still: The test usually lasts less than a minute, during which you’ll stand still while the machine sends a low-level electrical current through your body.
3. Non-invasive: The electrical current is painless and harmless, so you won’t feel anything during the process.
4. Immediate Results: Once the analysis is complete, the machine will provide immediate
results, showing your body composition breakdown, including fat mass, muscle mass, body water, and other key metrics.
5. Detailed Report:
• You’ll receive a printout or digital report with data like body fat percentage, muscle mass, visceral fat, and segmental muscle distribution (arms, legs, torso).
• Depending on the machine, it may also show your metabolic rate, fitness score, and even recommendations based on your body composition.
6. Consultation (optional): Some facilities offer an interpretation of your results with a trainer, nutritionist, or healthcare professional who can help you understand your data and suggest diet or exercise changes based on your goals.
Overall, expect a quick, straightforward process that provides valuable insights into your physical health and progress!
