Laser Hair Removal

While plucking, waxing, sugaring, and shaving are ways to manage unwanted body hair they are not a permanent solution. Shaving has short-term results, requires lotions, creams, oils, razors, and for many is a daily commitment. Waxing or sugaring is painful, provides short-term results, is a costly monthly expense and the worst part is that it requires the hair to be grown out.

Laser Hair Reduction literally gets to the root of the problem. With the Vectus we can provide effective, permanent hair reduction anywhere on your body. Unlike other laser hair removal systems, the Vectus laser is seeking hair and not pigment so it is safe to be used on all skin types. The treatments are fast and mess-free with lasting results. Best of all, the hair does not have to be grown out for the treatment and it is overall less expensive than shaving or waxing/sugaring.

The Cynosure Vectus Diode Lasers are complemented by chilling technology resulting in less discomfort then previous versions of the laser.

What does it treat?

Treats hair on the lips, face, legs, arms, underarms, bikini lines, backs, chest, etc

**Please note, hair must have melanin (pigment) for the laser uptake. THerefore, this laser will not work on blonde or gray hairs. It also may not work as well on red hairs. For blonde or gray hairs, consider electrolysis

What do we love about it?

The Vectus laser offers multiple handpiece sizes which the provider will select based on the treatment area. This allows us to treat large body areas very quickly which increases client comfort. But, we can also get into smaller hard to reach areas. The Vectus also has the industry’s only melanin reader. The Skintel Melanin Reader measures the skin melanin index at each treatment. This index is used to determine the ideal setting for each individual client increasing the safety and results for each session.

  • Skintel Melanin Reader for safer and effective procedures
  • Low downtime Little to no pain and improved patient comfort
  • FDA approved non-invasive procedure
  • Works on Men and Women of many different skin types
  • No more razor rash, shave bumps, ingrown hairs or scarring
  • Various size handpieces allow for easy access for smaller treatment areas with small handpiece and faster treatments for larger areas with larger handpiece.
How does it work?

The Vectus laser emits gentle pulses of energy that pass through the skin and into the hair follicle. The follicle absorbs the energy and is destroyed; unable to produce hair again. Since our hair grows in cycles, multiple sessions are necessary to achieve the desired results. We are trying to catch the hair in the Anagen Phase or the active phase of hair growth.

During laser hair removal, a laser device emits light energy that travels through the skin and is absorbed by the pigment in the hair follicle and hair shaft. Pigments are the substances that give skin and hair its color. This energy damages the hair follicle, which impairs its ability to grow.

Hair follicles that are in the anagen, or active growth phase, have more pigment and absorb more energy, and typically respond best to treatments. For this reason, it takes multiple treatments to achieve the best results – it’s important to “catch” your hair in this active growth phase when you are receiving treatments.

Since not all hairs are actively growing at the same time, a single procedure will not treat all of the hair follicles in the area. As the follicles in the transitional and resting periods return to the active growth phase, you may notice some hair regrowth but not as thick as it was before the treatment. This regrowth will become thinner and lighter with each subsequent treatment until there is little, to no hair at all.

What should i expect?

During the procedure, most of our patients describe feeling a quick “snap” after each pulse of the laser. However, any discomfort usually goes away in just a few seconds due to the Advance Contact Cooling in the Vectus Laser. This patented cooling system protects the top layer of your skin and makes the hair removal procedure much more comfortable.

After your procedure, you may feel a mild sensation around the treated area similar to a sunburn, possibly accompanied by some minor redness. This usually only lasts 2-7 hours, and you can resume all your regular daily activities immediately following your Vectus procedure!

Electrolysis

Electrolysis uses a metal probe, [a thin needle or wire], to deliver low-level electric pulses to each undesired hair follicle,” says Dr. Bhanusali. Those electric pulses heat up and destroy the individual follicles, one by one. The probe doesn’t exactly pierce the skin, but enters the hair follicle through its natural opening in the surface of the skin. Unlike laser hair removal, electrolysis works on all hair colors and skin types. But because your technician has to target each follicle individually, it might not be a great choice for large treatment areas.

TempSure:
TempSure is an advanced electrolysis technology that uses precise radiofrequency energy to deliver effective, safe, and comfortable permanent hair removal for all skin types.

What does it treat?

Electrolysis can treat individual hair follicles, regardless of hair color. It is safe enough that we can even use electrolysis to treat misdirected eyelashes that irritate the eyes.

What do we love about it?
  • Ability to treat hair that will not respond to Laser Hair Removal
  • Targeted approach
  • No downtime
  • Minimal discomfort
How does it work?

Electrolysis is a simple process of inserting a fine sterilized needle into the follicle alongside the hair to reach the base of the hair root. The follicle is an existing opening, so the fine needle, or filament, does not puncture or break the skin. A mild, split-second electrical current is delivered into the hair follicle to destroy the hair root when the hair is in the growing phase.

What should i expect?

Most people who undergo electrolysis describe feeling a slight heat, tingling or stinging sensation depending on the area being treated and the sensitivity of the client. Topical anesthetic is offered to clients who are more sensitive.

Slight redness and some swelling, which goes away in a few hours, may occur after treatment. This is a natural part of the healing process. You may form a scab at each treatment spot as the tissue around each treated hair follicle responds to the heat energy like a small burn.

Usually the area will be sensitive for a few days after the procedure,” says Dr. Bhanusali, “and it takes about one or two weeks for the area to completely heal.” Until then, you might experience tenderness, redness, and swelling.

  • Tender skin
  • Redness and swelling
  • Blistering and scabbing, ranging from minor to severe and uncomfortable reactions
  • Keloid scars, which are large, raised scars that typically don’t fade with time and can require surgical removal; if you’re prone to keloid scarring, speak with your dermatologist to weigh the risks and benefits of electrolysis.

Dermaplaning

Dermaplaning is an exfoliation treatment that involves gently scraping the face with a medical-grade scalpel to remove the very top layer of skin. The shave removes both dead skin cells and the fine vellus hairs that are known as peach fuzz, leaving the surface of the face ultra smooth. By stimulating the development of new skin cells, this type of exfoliation — sometimes called a scalpel facial — helps new skin rise to the surface. It leaves patients with a more youthful and dewy face, but without any harsh chemicals, excessive downtime, or pain.

What does it treat?
  • Uneven pigmentation & discoloration
  • Sun damage
  • Fine lines & wrinkles
  • Clogged & enlarged pores
  • Light scarring
  • Post-acne marks
  • Uneven skin texture
  • Excessive oil
  • Dry skin
  • “Peach fuzz” (villus hair)
What do we love about it?
  • Fresher skin provides for better absorption of skincare products
  • No downtime, lunchtime procedure
  • Non-invasive & Painless
  • Instant results
  • Safe for most people
  • Removing peach fuzz makes makeup go on smoother
  • Protective against acne
How does it work?

Your skin is exposed daily to harsh environmental toxins, irritants, and sun damage. This can cause the top layer of your skin to appear dull, and it can make you look aged. Dermaplaning clears away those damaged skin cells so newer skin cells are what you see when you look in the mirror.

What should i expect?

We’ll start by cleansing your face and applying a solution that is designed to open up your pores. During the treatment, we’ll carefully scrape the surface of your face to remove dead skin, “peach fuzz,” and debris. Your skin will be held taut while the various parts of your face are addressed. A scalpel facial is non-invasive and involves no pain or discomfort. Many patients say the sensation is similar to how it feels when shaving your legs in the shower with a manual razor. You may also hear a slight whispering sound as the blade makes soft strokes across your face.

There is zero downtime after a Dermaplaning treatment. You may experience mild redness after the treatment, which fades almost immediately. Keep in mind that you will probably be a little more sensitive to the products you are using since they will penetrate much quicker and deeper. It is best to avoid any exfoliation, acids and retinoids 2-3 days after your treatment.

It is important to know that it does not affect the structure of your hair. Your hair will not grow back thicker or darker. Your hair will grow back exactly how it was growing before. How fast your hair grows, quantity, and quality of your hair all depends on your genetics.
